Dave Barry elected to board of National Wrestling Hall of Fame

Five new board members were elected to the Board of Governors at the semi-annual meeting held in Omaha in March.  “These five individuals bring an enormous amount of experience and enthusiasm for the sport of wrestling to our board,” said Jim Keen, Chairman of the Board.

 

David Barry was a 2x EIWA place winner and 1st team All-Ivy wrestler for Columbia University. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia in1987 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Georgetown University Law School in 1990. Barry is President (and Co-Principle) of Ironstate Development Company in Hoboken, New Jersey. He is currently serving as the USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Team Leader for the 2012 Olympics.

 

Jed Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1979, earned his Master’s in Accounting in 1980 and completed his CPA certification in May of 1980. His achievements include earning 3 varsity letters at the University of Iowa. Professionally, Brown started the Standard Nutrition Company and serves as the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

 

Bob Buckley graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1973, wrestling three years for hall of fame coach Bob Siddens. Serving as the president of the Dan Gable Museum Board of Directors, Buckley was chairman of the capital campaign that brought the museum from Newton, Iowa, to Waterloo, Iowa. He also led the campaign that rebuilt the Museum after the flood.

 

Chris McGowan received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. John’s University in 1989, earning a double major in Government and Management and earned his law degree in 2003. McGowan‘s passion for wrestling continues with volunteer work including being author of the “Kids Corner” column for Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine. He currently serves as Executive Vice President of The Siouxland Initiative (TSI).

 

Jay Roberts attended the University of Iowa on a partial scholarship. He graduated in 1964 earning a bachelor’s in psychology and political science. Roberts lettered three years in 1962, ‘63, & ’64 in wrestling. He then, attended Iowa Law School where he received a JD degree and began practicing law in Waterloo, Iowa in 1968. He has been closely associated with the sport of wrestling since graduation.
