World Cup Champion, Olympic Team Member Marcie Van Dusen to offer clinic
Arno P. Niemand-sponsored event held in conjunction with first NYC girls freestyle tourny


NEW YORK, New York (January 21st, 2011) – On Saturday, March 5th, 2011, Marcie Van Dusen will be conducting a freestyle wrestling clinic as part of the 2011 Women's Wrestling Technique Tour sponsored by Arno P. Niemand. Beat the Streets (BTS) will be holding an all-girls freestyle tournament the following day on Sunday, March 6th, 2011.  Both events will take place at the BTS Manhattan Training Center at 145 Thompson St. in New York City's SoHo neighborhood.

Pre-registration and USA Wrestling cards are required for participation in both events. Registration and parental permission forms are available at www.nycwomenswrestling.org. USAW cards are available online at www.usawmembership.com or at the door for $34 (cash only).

While targeted to middle and high school girls, all wrestlers are welcome. Admission is free. Marcie will introduce freestyle wrestling technique in two sessions, followed by a meet and greet.

Open to middle and high school female wrestlers, the entry fee is $15 per competitor for those who register by February 16th and $20 for those who register after. The entry fee will be waived for winners of the Mayor's Cup Girls Division Tournament on January 30, 2011.

In addition to serving as a chance for girls to engage in freestyle wrestling – the style of competition in which women compete in College, on the Open circuit, and in the Olympics – this tournament also serves as an opportunity for girls to be scouted by Marcie, who is the Head Women's Wrestling Coach at Menlo College.

About Marcie

Marcie Van Dusen is the Head Women's Wrestling Coach at Menlo College in northern California. Van Dusen spent eight years as a member of the U.S. National Team, culminating with a spot on the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team and a ninth-place finish at the Beijing Games. During her stretch on the U.S. National Team, Van Dusen was a 2004 World University champion and 2008 World Cup gold medalist, and also represented the U.S. as a member of the 2007 World Team.
